Caryn leads the Gilbert + Tobin Legal Service Innovation team and G+T Innovate. These teams provide specialised services to support Gilbert + Tobin’s legal service delivery, and innovate to deliver new tools and services benefiting Gilbert + Tobin’s practice and clients. Caryn’s role encompasses responsibility for over 60 lawyers and business professionals working across Transformation, Legal Informatics and Data, Legal Project Management, Knowledge Management and GTDocs. Caryn was named “Most Innovative Changemaker” at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards Asia-Pacific 2022, “Innovator of the Year” at the Australian Law Awards 2022 and “Innovator of the Year” at the Partner of the Year Awards 2021. Under her leadership, Gilbert + Tobin was also named “Most Innovative Law Firm” at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards Asia-Pacific in 2024. Caryn is the Co-Chair of the Advisory Board to the Centre for Legal Innovation and is a director for various not-for-profit organisations. Caryn has a passion for expanding the focus and content of legal education to enable lawyers to succeed and thrive in the changing legal environment.

Sam is responsible for the firm’s operational functions and plays a leadership role in the development and implementation of the firm’s overall strategy. With a focus on technology and innovation, he drives the firm to challenge the status quo, particularly in the delivery of legal services, as well as consulting directly to clients on critical initiatives. Sam is widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading legal innovators and in 2019 he was named Legal Innovator of the Year at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards, Asia-Pacific. Sam also represents the firm on the board of LegalVision, a technology-based legal start-up which is partly owned by Gilbert + Tobin.

Linda is the firm’s lead Agile and Design Thinking consultant. Linda is a highly experienced and commercially focused facilitator and project manager, with comprehensive legal practice and project management experience. She stands out from the market by embracing diversity and innovative thinking to foster a stimulating team environment. Linda has a demonstrated ability to continuously innovate, design and deliver desired transformational project outcomes. Linda holds a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge, is an Admitted Advocate of the High Court of South Africa, a past member of the Association of Corporate Counsel, New Zealand; and a current member of the Australian Institute of Project Management (with CPPM). Linda is certified in Agile Project Management, Agile Coaching, Effective Stakeholder Engagement, and Prince2 Foundation. She is a Lean Bootcamp graduate, and has also successfully completed two Design Thinking Programmes. Linda was awarded “Legal Operations Professional of the Year” at the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards 2021.

Mark is Director, Capability for G+T Innovate. He helps clients transform their legal functions to address the many challenges of today’s fast-moving and dynamic business environment. Mark began his career as a lawyer in Sydney and London, and has held roles such as General Counsel at the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games. He has also worked in Silicon Valley where he led technology and media businesses, and for global management consulting firms, focusing on building capability in people and organisations. Mark’s expertise includes change and transformation, culture change, leadership development, innovation/design thinking, and individual and team development. An accomplished facilitator, Mark frequently works with C-Suite and other senior leaders to help them change and transform their businesses.

Cassandra shapes and supports transformation solutions for Gilbert + Tobin lawyers and clients to improve efficiency and optimise legal work. She has 10 years of experience delivering tech enabled solutions in the legal industry, both as a project manager and manager in legal innovation teams and as a senior product manager in document automation. Cassandra is an Australian admitted lawyer, having extensive experience in commercial litigation practice as well as practice management expertise.

Nic is a legal transformation and innovation expert with a deep understanding of private and in-house practices. Drawing on his years of experience working across top-tier law firm and in-house environments, Nic applies science-driven innovation methodologies and collaborates with key stakeholders to identify optimisation opportunities, develop solutions, and implement lasting, positive change. Whether facilitating design thinking workshops, managing legal technology experiments and deployment, or supporting organisational transformation, Nic combines client-centricity with creativity and commercial nous. He was the recipient of the inaugural global Hewlett-Packard Office of General Counsel Innovation Award in Silicon Valley, 2015.

Gareth is an experienced international corporate advisory and knowledge management expert with multi-jurisdictional legal qualifications. He has worked for over 18 years in the legal knowledge management and solutions space, including in magic circle and top-tier global law firms. Gareth has deep document automation experience, gained over 13 years across multiple platforms and applications, and covering multiple legal disciplines. He has a wealth of systems and solutions design experience and is a graduate of the Emeritus hosted MIT Sloan Design Thinking short course.

Matthew is the Director of Legal Informatics and R+D at Gilbert + Tobin. He leads a specialised in-house multidisciplinary legal informatics team that utilises a variety of data analytics, eDiscovery, and other AI technology tools. These technology tools are used to facilitate large scale document/data production and review for commercial litigation, regulatory compliance (ATO, ASIC, ACCC) and due diligence for mergers and acquisition transactions. Matthew has more than 20 years of experience in the legal technology industry and is Chair of the Association of Litigation Support Managers (ALSM), NSW chapter, and an advisory board member of Information Governance ANZ. Adrian is an expert in legal technology, focussing on the design, architecture and implementation of technology systems for clients and internal teams. His work encompasses the extraction, processing and handling of electronic evidence repositories in large and complex litigation; development of legal technology applications and the implementation of machine learning to legal review and data analysis. He is dual qualified in Commerce (Information Systems) and Law. Adrian is a Relativity Master as well as a certified Nuix eDiscovery specialist. He is the recipient of global and domestic awards, including the ‘Community Choice Best Innovation’ at RelativityFest 2018 in Chicago and was included on the International Legal Technology Association’s young professionals to watch list in 2020.
