Legal project management (LPM) is the adaptation of proven project management and organisational design approaches to improving the delivery of legal matters. Gilbert + Tobin’s LPM team regularly advises clients, universities, professional bodies and industry on the development of LPM processes, frameworks, standards and tools.

Our LPM team leads the Australian industry

The success of our LPM team is based upon two principles:

  • using a best-of-breed approach so that LPM delivers value (rather than simply being a compliance function);

  • and approaching the embedding of LPM within a legal team as a change program.

G+T Innovate offer AIPM-endorsed half and full day practical LPM training sessions for in-house legal teams, and (in collaboration with the Law Society of NSW) the broader legal profession. In addition to delivering legal matters, in-house legal teams are often also required to participate in technical projects, transformation programs and other operational initiatives. The planning and management of multiple simultaneous projects with competing priorities and risk profiles can be assisted by effective and easy-to-use management tools and strategies that help get the job done, without causing unnecessary project administration.

Our LPM team leads the Australian industry: winning ‘Change Program of the Year’ at the AIPM 2018 Project Management Achievement Awards (NSW) as well as the 2018 national ‘AIPM Chairman’s Award for Innovation in Project Management’, and being awarded ‘Highly Commended’ at the 2018 Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Awards (Asia-Pacific).
